ITINERARY
DAY
01 KATHMANDU –
LHASA
We meet in Kathmandu and transfer to the airport for your short
flight to Lhasa. You are met on arrival and transferred to your
hotel.
DAY
02 & DAY 03
LHASA
Two days are spent settling into Tibetan life in the capital,
Lhasa. We spend time comphrehensively exploring all the city has
to offer.
DAY 04 LHASA – GYANTSE
We set off by road for Gyantse, a medieval fortress town and the
site of the famous battle between the Tibetan army and the forces
of Sir Francis Younghusband, who was pushing forward in the name
of the British. We spend the night at your hotel in Gyantse.
DAY
05 GYANTSE – SHIGATSE
Again by road, we journey toward Shigatse, and to the fascinating
Tashilumpo Monastery, where we spend some time retracing the
historical footsteps of ancient Buddhism. Overnigth is spent in
your hotel at Shigatse.
DAY
06 SHIGATSE – SHEGAR
We move on to Shegar, where we stop in wonder at the sight of the
Great Himalayan Range rising up above the southern edges of the
Plateau. A night is spent here at your hotel.
DAY
07 SHEGAR – ZHANGMU
From the stunning situe at Shegar, we drive onward and arrive at
the entrance to the narrow gorge of the Sun Koshi River, which we
will follow down into the lush green valley of Kathmandu. We
reach the Tibet-Nepal border town of Zhangmu, where we spend our
final night in Tibet.
DAY
08 ZHANGMU –
KATHMANDU
We drive our final leg to Kathmandu, where we transfer on arrival
to your onward hotel, or to the starting point of your onward
destination. Tour ends.

Centre.You then fly back to Kathmandu having worked on your
appetite for your next journey to Tibet.

LHASA AND BEYOND

This journey to the forbidden city of Lhasa is
one that few people will ever make.
Tibet
is wild and barren and not the most comfortable of destinations
yet your first sight of the great Potala Place, the winter home of
the Dalai Lama will be a breathtaking reward. From Kathmandu you
fly across the Himalayan Range and the massive Tibetan plateau to
Lhasa.
Your first day is relaxed as your body attunes
to the rarefied air in this city which lies 3683m above sea level.
Two days are then spent visiting the Potala and Norbulingka
Palaces, famed monasteries of Fanden and Drepung, revered and
sacred Buddhist shrines, Jokhan Temple. A walk around the Garkhor
( market of old Lhasa ) is a shopper`s delight. An added bonus of
this tour is a journey out of Lhasa to remote and beautiful
Namtso Lake. This region is a world renowned bird sanctuary and
the site of numerous caves where Buddhist monks and nuns retreat
for meditation. A couple of days is then spent visiting the old
fortress town on Gyantse and on to Shigatse, home of the Panchan
Lama before flying back to Kathmandu.
